Ordinances and Code Compliance

The following are three city ordinances that I believe should be amended. I have provided these proposals so that you may view my positions on certain critical city regulations. Your opinion regarding my proposed amendments to these ordinances would be appreciated.

Sec. 11A-100. - Criminal remedies:

I believe time should be allowed between one citation before a second is issued, (Code Officer can issue citations every 24 hr for the same violation,) HOA owners have 30 days between citations.

Sec. 11A-52. - Nuisance abatement order:

Code Compliance Officers are not required to supply a Notice of Violation before a citation can be issued. Notice should be served before citations are issued

I propose that a 30 day notice is fair. Many individuals work six days a week. This would allow four days to address the issue; lessening hardship and stress.

Ordinance 19602, R105.2 Exception:

In summary, this Ordinance states that you are permitted to build a porch or deck at your home, without a permit, providing that it does not exceed over six inches high.

Reasoning for the six-inch restriction is that anything higher could result in you injuring yourself. The majority of non-brick homes have entry levels are two to three times higher. I propose this ordinance be amended to entry level height.

Hi, my name is Bob Willoughby.
2023 Candidate for City Council District 5
I have been fortunate to live the life I have lived, and to be a native of Fort Worth. Before 2013, I was just like the 96% of our citizens that do not vote in our local elections. Then I witnessed the immoral behavior of our city’s Code Compliance department. Not willing to simply turn a blind eye, I have been on a path of discovery ever since. The unfortunate conclusion from that journey is that Fort Worth is a cesspool of corruption.

There are, of course, countless things we can do to benefit the city, but first we must restore ethics and morals in our local council. Without that initial change any other action will be irrelevant.

I have taken it on as a personal mission to begin the course correction that is required within City Council. I hope you’ll join me as I strive to make this change a reality!

Please feel free to reach out to me by phone (817.446.7056) or by email (b.willoughby@live.com). I welcome the opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities we face together as a community.© COPYRIGHT 2021. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
